Becoming a mother taught me how yoga and the breath can be used prenatally, in labor, and postpartum to support an empowered mother. Prenatal yoga sessions prepare your heart, mind, and body for birth and baby.  No matter what kind of birth you’re planning, a regular practice of connecting your breath and body will positively impact your birth. Practice will open with dialogue, meditation, breath work, and then physical practice and poses. Practice will vary from gentle to vigorous, with modifications offered and encouraged throughout.

Prenatal yoga has many benefits. According to the Mayo Clinic, studies have suggested that prenatal yoga can:

  • improve sleep
  • reduce stress and anxiety
  • increase the strength, flexibility and endurance needed for childbirth
  • decrease lower back pain, nausea, carpal tunnel syndrome, headaches and shortness of breath
  • decrease the risk of preterm labor, pregnancy induced-hypertension and intrauterine growth restriction – a condition that slows a baby’s growth

Private prenatal yoga lessons allow your practice to be tailored specifically to you — focusing on overcoming the challenges and celebrating the joys of your pregnancy while preparing your body, mind and soul for birth.

I am happy to come to your home or your preferred alternate location.  Our first meeting will include not only a discussion of your pregnancy, but also your history, any past injuries, goal setting, and an introductory practice.

Rates:

$75 for a 60 minute session

5 sessions for $350
